What's brought you to this point?
I'll go first...
My name is Catherine, and I’m a full-time writer and author coach living in Ireland, the land of perfect writing weather ;)
I'm originally from Chicago, but I met a Dubliner volunteering in the Amazon Rainforest and we took a shine to each other. True story!
Needless to say, I'm a big believer in following your bliss.
That's how I found myself writing. And writing and writing and writing...
No one read anything I wrote, of course, because I had no idea what I was doing, but it was fun.
Cute.
Finger-painting is probably the right analogy.
But I got fed up with that and eventually admitted that I actually cared whether people read my words.
I was tired of watching other writers build their readerships in front of me.
Why shouldn't I get paid to practice the craft in my pajamas, too?
But I struggled to break through.
Why?
Because I wasn't taking the right advice.
I was collecting advice like a thirsty cactus drinks rain. I just wasn't taking any of it.
Why?
Because I didn't want to be told how to do My Art. I wanted My Art to speak for itself.
And it did.
To know one.
So I kicked my ego to the curb, admitted I didn't know what I didn't know, and invested in mentorship to learn how to write books that connect with people so my ideas wouldn’t die with me.
Long story short, my next series changed my life.
I was backpacking in Thailand one day, checked my Amazon sales dashboard, and realized I’d sold more books in a month than I’d sold in the previous year.
Since then, I’ve devoted my life to learning about- and practicing- the craft.
I've even developed a Blissful Book Writing Method that makes writing a crowd-pleasing book painless and profitable.
It wasn't something I ever thought I'd share, though.
I did it because I enjoy the writing process more when I have total certainty that I'm creating a well-constructed book that will get found, finished, and felt without fail.
It works so well that not only have I never had to beg friends and family to read my books, I didn't even tell them my pen name until I had forty titles under my belt.
Why?
Because I lacked confidence.
...Even though I'd achieved my dream of being able to write full time!
How crazy is that?
Talk about crippling self-doubt?!
So if you’ve got it, trust me. I've been there.
